Nanomaterials and technologies can give coatings many different new functions. The Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing has developed a nanocomposite high-temperature fireproof coating. This coating is a multiphase composite system, which is prepared by adding nano organic polymer materials (including adhesives) to nanoparticles such as nano silicon carbide, nano silicate clay, phosphates, oxides and nano aluminum silicate. Anhui Wuyang Nano Coating Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and the Institute of Solid State Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have jointly developed nano waterproof decorative coatings, which not only improve the bending strength by 2 to 3 times, but also have waterproof and high bonding strength properties. Zhang Hua et al. used unsaturated double bond oleic acid as a surfactant and methyl methacrylate as an active solvent to prepare a stable nano TiO2 sol, and then used free radical-initiated polymerization to prepare a nano TiO2 particle/polymethyl methacrylate coating. Yi Xiaosu et al. used the pseudo-interlayer insertion method to prepare a polymer/inorganic nanocomposite material.
