New silicone materials help upgrade the safety of new energy vehicle batteries

Hits: 552 img

As global sales of new energy vehicles exceed the 20 million mark, battery safety protection has become the focus of the industry. A domestic technology company recently launched a composite protective coating based on polysilazane, which successfully passed the 2000-hour salt spray test and 150°C high-temperature aging test. The material forms a dense protective layer of only 50 microns on the surface of the battery module, and its temperature resistance range reaches -60°C to 300°C, which improves the insulation performance by 40% compared with traditional materials. The supporting silicone rubber seal uses nano-enhancement technology, and the elastic modulus is increased to 5MPa. When used with silicone resin potting glue, the overall protection level of the battery pack can reach the IP68 standard. According to the project leader, the solution has been verified by the laboratories of leading companies such as CATL and BYD, and is expected to be mass-produced before the end of the year. Industry analysts pointed out that with the popularization of electric vehicle fast charging technology, the market size of high-temperature resistant silicone protective materials is expected to exceed 8 billion yuan in 2025.
