Summer Construction Alert: Humidity Risks for Silicone Sealant Curing

Hits: 488 img

Amidst high temperatures and monsoon rains, Guangdong Hengda New Material Technology issued guidelines for silicone adhesive applications. When humidity exceeds 70%, moisture-curable silicones develop surface water films, reducing adhesion by over 30%. The company advises applying sealants at 24°C–26°C with 55%–60% humidity or switching to addition-cure silicones to prevent "incomplete curing." Its rapid-cure electronic sealant – used in EV battery case waterproofing – fully cures in 7 days to withstand torrential rain. Home AC installations and roof repairs should also avoid sealant layers thicker than 5mm to prevent internal moisture-trapping delamination.
