As red heatwave alerts sweep across China, building energy-saving renovations take center stage. Domestic companies have launched new silicone resin-based solar heat reflective coatings. By incorporating nano titanium dioxide, these coatings achieve over 90% solar reflectance. Already applied in old community renovation projects in Shanghai and Guangzhou, roof applications have reduced indoor temperatures by 5-8°C (9-14°F). Compared to traditional asphalt roofs, these coatings offer superior weather resistance, a lifespan exceeding 15 years, and are VOC-free. Experts from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development highlight that such organosilicon materials can cut air conditioning energy consumption by 30%, providing a new pathway for mitigating urban heat island effects.
