An office building complex in Pudong, Shanghai, recently completed an energy-saving renovation, and the silicone resin coating used on its roof has garnered industry attention. This reflective coating, based on methylphenyl silicone resin, has a solar reflectivity of 89%, a 35% increase over conventional coatings. It has been shown to reduce indoor temperatures on top floors by 15°C and air conditioning energy consumption by 20%. More notably, a "self-healing silicone resin" developed by a research team has been applied to the exterior walls of buildings in the Hangzhou Asian Games Village. Its micro-nanostructure can automatically repair itself through molecular recombination after hail impacts, extending its service life three times that of traditional materials. Driven by the "dual carbon" goals, the use of silicone resin in my country's construction sector exceeded 450,000 tons by 2025, with 80% used in energy-saving renovation projects, making it a key driver of green building development.
