July 18, 2025 – With the surge in demand for plastic products during the summer, from takeout containers to automotive interiors, demolding efficiency directly impacts production capacity and costs. Recently, a methylphenyl silicone oil called IOTA-2437 has been introduced, offering a new option for thermoplastic and thermosetting resin processing.
Unlike traditional mold release agents that are prone to residue and temperature variations, this silicone oil is colorless and transparent with a pour point below -60°C. It combines excellent lubricity and chemical inertness, preventing odors or surface defects during high-temperature injection molding. Adding 0.01% to 0.5% allows for easy demolding, producing a smooth finish similar to non-stick cooking oil, significantly reducing mold cleaning frequency.
In actual production, it can be pre-mixed with resin granules using a mixer or directly injected into injection molding machines in small batches. Products are packaged in bottles, drums, and tonnes; safety goggles and gloves are recommended during operation. This solution is currently being piloted in production lines for small household appliances and daily necessities.
