With the recent rise of "trade-in" programs for home furnishings and the trend toward premium interiors in new energy vehicles, the durability of surface coatings has become a key focus. IOTA has timely launched IOTA 2866—a long-chain alkyl silicone oil featuring mono-terminal di-hydroxyl functionality—to help polyurethane and polyester manufacturers overcome common issues such as poor wear resistance and susceptibility to staining.

This silicone prepolymer has an average molecular weight of 4,250; its unique mono-terminal di-hydroxyl structure enables efficient copolymerization with -NCO and -COOH groups. Unlike conventional resin modification methods, IOTA 2866 incorporates silicone segments at the molecular level, imparting a smooth, "silicone-armor" feel to materials such as sofa leather, automotive seating, and 3C coatings. In practical use, it allows for the easy removal of crayon marks and coffee stains from surfaces (such as walls), while offering outstanding anti-blocking properties and significantly enhanced wear resistance—effectively solving problems like surface tackiness and poor stain resistance durability. The product exhibits excellent compatibility with polyols and is suitable for use in two-component PU baking enamels as well as in the synthesis of silicone-modified polyurethane emulsions; its low surface tension also promotes leveling and reduces "orange peel" effects. Currently packaged and transported as non-hazardous material, IOTA 2866 offers manufacturers an eco-friendly, long-lasting surface protection solution, upgrading the quality and appeal of everyday durable goods.
