On March 26, 2025, Dow Chemical announced that its bio-based silicone resin based on rice husk silicon has been mass-produced, with carbon emissions reduced by 72% compared to petroleum-based products. The material combines the weather resistance (UV aging resistance for more than 10,000 hours) and biodegradability of traditional silicone resins, and has been applied to the "light storage straight and soft" demonstration building complex in Xiongan New Area. The project uses an AIoT smart coating system to dynamically adjust the solar radiation absorption rate through a nanoporous film containing silicone resin, reducing the overall energy consumption of the building by 38%. According to the new regulations of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, new public buildings must use more than 30% bio-based building materials from 2025, which is expected to drive the new output value of the silicone industry chain to exceed 20 billion yuan.
