IOTA 6108, a Phenyl Cage-like Silsesquioxane


With the widespread adoption of consumer electronics such as new energy vehicles and smart homes, fire safety has become a major public concern. Recently, an environmentally friendly silicone material called "IOTA 6108, a phenyl cage-like silsesquioxane," has attracted industry attention.


Unlike traditional halogen-containing flame retardants, this white powdery silicone resin is free of fluorine, chlorine, and bromine, making it a green, halogen-free product. Adding 0.5% to 5% to PC and PC/ABS plastics achieves V-0 flame retardant standards while maintaining material transparency and structural stability.


Compared to past formulations relying on halogen-based flame retardants, IOTA 6108 is not only more environmentally friendly but also boasts advantages such as high-temperature resistance and a high refractive index. It acts like an "invisible fireproof coat" for electronic products—from small charger casings to large electric vehicle battery components, it enhances safety without affecting appearance, making daily electricity use safer.
