Non-oxides mainly include ceramic materials such as carbides, nitrides, borides, etc. These ceramics often have higher hardness and better wear resistance than oxides. Further considering the problem of composite improvement of plasticity and toughness of materials, metal bonding phases such as Co and Ni are generally added to form ceramic/metal composite coatings. Commonly used carbide ceramic wear-resistant coatings include WC-Co, Cr2C3-NiCr, etc.
